Services

Tooling for sand casting foundries, from a single prototype pattern to production match plates, plus poured urethane, machining and metal fabrication.

PU

A specialty of the shop

Poured urethane products and equipment

We design and pour custom urethane products and equipment. The shop builds the molds in-house, so a part can go from your drawing, sample or idea to finished urethane under one roof, poured to the shape and hardness the job needs.

PT

Sand casting patterns

Loose patterns for hand molding, cope and drag pattern plates for split-pattern work, and mounted patterns for machine lines. Built with the draft, shrink allowance and machining stock the casting needs.

MP

Match plates

Cope and drag mounted on opposite sides of one plate for high-volume molding. Tight registration between the halves keeps flash and mismatch down at the parting line.

CB

Core boxes

Boxes for the internal passages and cavities of a casting, with core prints sized so cores seat and stay put during the pour. Built to suit the core process your foundry runs.

GR

Gating and rigging

Runners, gates and risers designed or built to your foundry's practice, so metal fills the mold cleanly and the casting feeds as it solidifies.

RW

Repair, rework and engineering changes

Worn tooling restored, broken patterns rebuilt and design revisions cut into existing equipment. Repairs are scheduled to get you back to pouring quickly.

PR

Prototype and short-run tooling

Quick-build patterns for first articles and small batches, so you can prove a casting before committing to production tooling.

VM

Vertical milling

CNC and manual vertical milling for patterns, core boxes, pattern plates and machined parts, from large tooling-board work to close-tolerance metal.

LT

Lathe operations

Turning for round patterns, core prints, bushings and machined parts, so round work comes off the lathe true and ready to mount.

Metal fabrication

The same shop that builds your tooling can cut, weld and thread the metal work around it.

PC

Plasma cutting

Steel, stainless and aluminum plate cut to shape for brackets, frames, flasks, plates and repair parts.

WD

Welding

Welding for all metal types, from steel and stainless to aluminum and cast iron, for new fabrication and repairs.

BZ

Brazing

Brazed joints for copper, brass and dissimilar metals, and for parts that should not see the heat of a weld.

TD

Tap and die thread cutting

Internal and external threads cut by tap and die, plus repair of worn or damaged threads.

Materials

Matched to how many molds the pattern has to make.

HardwoodPrototypes, one-offs and short runs.
Urethane tooling boardStable and fast to machine. Most production work.
AluminumLong runs and machine molding where wear matters.
CompositeRigid and stable, for large patterns that have to hold their shape.
Cast ironThe longest production runs and the hardest-working molding lines.
PlasticsDurable engineering plastics for patterns, core boxes and wear parts.
NylonTough and low-friction, for wear strips, bushings and sliding parts.

Read any pattern we build by its paint:

  • Black marks core prints
  • Red marks surfaces to be machined
  • Red stripes on yellow mark seats for loose pieces
